Sam Fender has given the complete sum of his £25k honor cash to the trust for venues, which operates to protect the Britain's independent live music spots.

The star was presented with the prize on 16 October as his third album the album was chosen as the best record of the previous year.

He has opted to give the cash to the trust, in recognition of the essential function small stages fulfilled in his beginning days.

"I personally couldn't be pursuing this success if it weren't for all the shows I played around the area, and further afield, when I was starting out," remarked Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these locations have shut down – roughly 16 percent of the entire UK sector.

Recently, top acts such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its efforts to support the industry, by applying a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which benefits independent venues.

Sam Fender also joined in, generating more than £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to support 38 local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

These funds supported venues that were dealing with possible closure due to challenges arising from flooding, blazes and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, legal disputes and neighbor objections.

Other venues obtained financial assistance in modernizing infrastructure and sound and lighting systems that helped artists and fans.

"The notion that money from shows in major spaces backs the smaller venues, where it begins for musicians like me, is just sensible," Fender has commented.

"And I donated a grand to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I practiced gymnastics when I was a child and they required updated gear," Ms Dynamite shared with a publication.

In recent years, they donated their winnings to the local youth club that nurtured their band, in addition to other local music groups.

Also winners that year M People gave their prize to a multiple sclerosis charity after a close contact was found to have the disease.

"Winning was ample," remarked artist the singer. "The cash was the bonus but we could do without the bonus, because we had the honor. So our success affected another person's life."

Recently, the trust announced it had saved two grassroots venues in the South East, by placing them under public stewardship.

The first in Southampton and The Croft in the city were acquired under the community ownership program, which is supported by the arts council and enthusiasts who acquire "stakes" in the properties.
