Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, demons, and dark forces growing in power within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the main group to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem out of place, but the actions of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, striking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could help the group access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
