Automobiles in Germany's Town Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were contacted by a man who noticed a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Officers say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then located many other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the community for information.

A senior political figure stated the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be resolved promptly.

"This event hits the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
