In a bizarre crossover event that challenges traditional predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an digital partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Revealed

According to the formal release, "A strange meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where whispers of banned rituals and terrifying metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The narrative introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden sect.

The mission centers on "strange tests and a fearsome enemy" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Changes

The trailer showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer finishes with a powerful moment showing a character, probably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Extra Features

Players who finish the mission will receive an special katana alongside several objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special implements

Third Free Story Addition

This release also brings the game's latest free story episode, titled "The Mystery." This playful quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime properties. The series previously showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
